TAMPA, APRIL 27, 2016 – With two weeks until the start of the American Athletic Outdoor Championships, the USF track and field team get one final tune-up when it competes in two locations this weekend.

Nine Bulls will compete in the 122nd Penn Relays beginning on Thursday in Philadelphia, Pa. Among those competing in the oldest and largest track and field competition in the country are Bernicia Holifield (Tallahassee) in the hammer throw and Laticia Sims (Detroit) in the 100mH. Both are ranked inside the top 48 of their events in the East, the mark necessary to qualify for the NCAA East Preliminary (May 26-28).

USF will take 40 student-athletes to San Marcos, Texas for the Texas State Classic on April 30. Action for the Bulls begins at 11 a.m. ET with Justin Jack (Orlando) and Raekwon Scott (DeLand, Fla.) in the men's high jump. The running events begin with Sarah Leary and Celeste Romero in the women's 1,500m at 4 p.m. ET.

Five-time All-America triple jumper Matthew O'Neal (Jackson, Miss.), who has jumped an NCAA-best 54 feet, 10.75 inches, will not compete this weekend. He, along with the rest of the team, will compete at the American Athletic Outdoor Championships, held May 11-14 in Orlando.
