TAMPA, JAN. 18, 2018 – With the first indoor meet of the season in the books, head coach Warren Bye's Bulls look to build off their impressive Wolverine Invitational performances at the Gladstein Invitational this weekend.

Action at the two-day event begins Friday with field events in the afternoon at Indiana University's Gladstein Fieldhouse. USF and 14 other programs continue competition Saturday at the site that's hosted several NCAA Indoor Championships.

USF will have 37 student-athletes competing in 12 different events, including 18 Bulls taking part in multiple events. The Gladstein Invitational marks USF's second of four regular season meets before the American Athletic Conference Indoor Championships take place Feb. 23-24 in Birmingham, Ala.

Recapping the Season Opener
USF started the indoor season in stride with two event wins, eight top-three finishes and five performances that rank in the program's all-time top 10 at the Wolverine Invitational last Saturday.

Junior Chelsea Francis (Jacksonville, Fla.) moved up to sixth place on the USF women's 200-meters chart with a winning time of 24.62 seconds.

Senior Kaytlyn Gill (Charlotte, N.C.) won the women's long jump with a mark of 18-9.25, which ranks 10th in USF indoor history. Learn more HERE.

Quotable
Head coach Warren Bye's thoughts heading into the second meet of the indoor season:
"I am looking for us to build off last weekend's solid start at Michigan and I was happy with our start. Indiana will be another challenge for us. I expect to see our team step up to improve on last week's performances."

Bye on the Bulls being prepared to take the next step in season progression at Indiana:
"We should have more of the technical details cleaned up for this weekend and have some of the first-meet jitters out of the way. Our team knows how important it is to get off to a great start these first few weeks of the season. It sets us up to have a strong finish at the AAC Indoor Championships in February."
