Tickets on Sale for MLS Match-up

TAMPA, JAN. 23, 2018 –  Corbett Stadium has hosted many great soccer events since it was built in 2011 and another instant classic is scheduled for next month. The USF men's soccer team will host the Chicago Fire on Feb. 3 at 5 p.m.
 
Tickets to the friendly are general admission and on sale for $9 here or at USFBullsTix.com. Fans can also call 1-800-Go-Bulls. Students with a valid USF ID will receive free admission at the gate. Tickets will also be available on-site. Corbett Stadium Gates will open at 4 p.m.
 
The Men in Red open training on Jan. 23 in Chicago and then will travel to Tampa for a 10-day stint in the Bay Area. The Chicago Fire finished third in the MLS Eastern Conference last season and just announced the re-signing of international star, Bastian Schweinsteiger. The German midfielder is back for his second season with the Fire. A reigning World Cup champion with Germany in 2014, Schweinsteiger's international debut came on June 6, 2004 against Hungary, launching a national team career that would lead to appearances in three World Cups (2006, 2010, 2014) and four UEFA European Championships (2004, 2008, 2012, 2016). He boasts 24 goals in 121 appearances for Germany.

MLS All-Star Dax McCarty will return to his home state of Florida for the match. McCarty hails from Winter Park, Fla. and played in his 300th career MLS regular season match last season. The Fire boasts the MLS Golden Boot winner Nemanja Nikolic. Nikolic led the league with 24 goals one year ago. 
 
The Bulls ended their 2017 season with a 6-6-4 mark and compiled a 3-2-2 record in The American. Returning this spring are 21 veterans led by a core group of eight starters. Also joining the squad is newcomer Marcus Murphy.
 
USF will host one other spring match. The Bulls will welcome the Tampa Bay Rowdies (USL) to Corbett Stadium on March 9 at 7 p.m.
 
The Bulls concluded the 2017 regular season with a 6-6-4 overall record and finished fifth in the American Athletic Conference with a 3-2-2 mark.
