Schilte-Brown Receives Three-Year Contract Extension
TAMPA, JAN. 24, 2018 – USF Director of Athletics
Mark Harlan announced today a three-year contract extension for head women's soccer coach
Denise Schilte-Brown, which extends her current contract to a total of five years and will keep the highly successful coach at USF through the 2022 season.
"Denise has done a tremendous job building USF women's soccer into a nationally-ranked and highly-competitive program that continues to attract high-level student-athletes that excel both on the field and in the classroom," Harlan said. "We were thrilled that the program achieved its first American Athletic Conference title in 2017 and made its third NCAA Tournament appearance in the last four seasons. We look forward to many more exciting seasons ahead."
Just the second head coach in program history, Schilte-Brown has posted a 114-70-35 record in 11 seasons leading the Bulls and won 208 games overall in 19 seasons as a head coach. She has led USF to four NCAA Tournament appearances, including the program's first-ever appearance in 2010 and appearances in three of the last four seasons. Schilte-Brown has guided the Bulls to a program record-tying season win total (15 in 2015), the program's highest-ever ranking (No. 14 during the 2016 season) and coached the program's first All-American, with sophomore Evelyn Viens earning third-team honors in 2017.
In 2017, Schilte-Brown guided USF to a best-ever American Athletic Conference record of 7-1-1 and the program's first American Athletic Conference Tournament title with a victory over UCF in Orlando. The Bulls also advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament for just the second time in program history. The women's soccer program also saw 22 members earn USF Athletics Academic Honor Roll recognition in the fall and posted an 89 percent or better Graduation Success Rate for the 10
th straight year.
Schilte-Brown has led USF to three American Athletic Conference Tournament championship game appearances and previously led the Bulls to four championship game appearances in the BIG EAST Championship.
A 1996 graduate of the University of Maryland-Baltimore County, Brown was the 1996 Big South Conference Player of the Year and a four-time all-conference selection. The native of Grimsby, Ontario, was a member of the 1997 Canadian National Team and played professionally for several seasons.
Schilte-Brown served four years as a regional coach for the Olympic Development Program (ODP), and ran the national training center in Tampa. She also served as a US National Team Coach for the U-23 national team camp, and was a national staff coach for U-23 camps. In 2017, she achieved UEFA "A" license, just one level below the UEFA Pro license.

USF Athletics sponsors 19 varsity men's and women's teams that compete in 11 different sports, 18 at the NCAA Division I level in the American Athletic Conference. The Bulls' athletic program celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2015, having begun with a men's soccer contest in 1965. Nearly 500 student-athletes train and compete in the athletic district located on the east end of the campus in Tampa, Fla. The Bulls have claimed 13 American Athletic Conference team titles since joining the conference in 2013, including four in 2016-17, and own 110 conference championships overall. Ten USF programs reached national post-season competition in the 2016-17 season and nine were ranked in the Top 25 nationally. The Bulls posted a program-record 86 percent Graduation Success Rate in 2016, logged an annual department grade-point average over a 3.0 for the second straight year, and saw 106 student-athletes earn their degree during the 2016-17 academic period.
