Bulls Break Two School Records, Win Nine Events at Samford Invitational
BIRMINGHAM, Ala., FEB. 9, 2018 – USF track and field finished the final regular season event of the indoor season on a high note Friday. The Bulls broke two school records, posted nine event victories and racked up 22 total top-five finishes at the Samford Invitational in Birmingham.

Ashley Wilson (Tampa) opened the day with a win for the Bulls, taking the women's weight throw with a mark of 59-4.25. The mark is a new collegiate best for Wilson and moves her into fifth all-time on the USF indoor charts.

Chelsea Francis (Jacksonville, Fla.) won two events on the day, taking both the women's 60 meters and the 200 meters. In the 60 meters, Francis finished with a time of 7.56 seconds. Her preliminary time of 7.53 seconds gave her a new personal best and moved her into fifth place alone on the indoor charts. In the 200 meters, Francis ran a time of 24.11, which improves her best time and puts her in third on the indoor top-10.

David Bell (Jacksonville, Fla.) set the new USF indoor record in the men's pole vault, clearing a height of 17-5.00 in his first event win of the indoor season.

Zach Diaczynsky (Naples, Fla.) also set a new USF indoor record in his second-place finish in the men's shot put with a mark of 54-2.75.

Tierra Lacey (Hollywood, Fla.) took first in the women's triple jump with a mark of 38-7.50.

D'angelo Ennis (Kingston, Jamaica) got his third triple jump win of the indoor season with a mark of 48-10.00.

Kaytlyn Gill (Charlotte, N.C.) won the women's long jump for the second time and got her third overall event victory, finishing with a mark of 19-0.50.

Rachael O'Neil (Seattle, Wash.) won the women's 60-meter hurdles, running a time of 8.57 seconds. The time moves her into a tie for sixth on the women's indoor chart.

The final win of the day for the Bulls came from the men's 4x400 meter relay team of
Yohance Haynes,
Derwin Moultrie,
Maurice Nock and
Tequon Terry. They finished the relay with a time of 3:20.81.

Other Women's Top-Five Results
- POLE VAULT: Cassandra Phelan placed fourth with a height of 11-11.75. Nicole Carroll was fifth in the event, also coming in at 11-11.75.
- HIGH JUMP: Imani Carmouche took fourth with a mark of 5-5.
- 60M HURDLES: Kaitlyn Kirby finished third in the hurdles with a time of 8.71 seconds. The time moves her into eighth place in the women's indoor top-10.
- 400 METERS: The Bulls took second and third in the 400, with Destiny Fairley finishing second at 57.19 seconds, the ninth-best time on the indoor chart. Shenica Bazile was fifth at 57.34 seconds.
- 4x400M RELAY: The women's 4x400 meter relay team of Shenica Bazile, Maya Fabri, Destiny Fairley and Chelsea Francis finished second with a time of 3:53.27.
Other Men's Top-Five Results
- POLE VAULT:Â Joe Fogarasi took fourth with a height of 16-4.75, while David Akins took fifth, clearing a height of 15-11.
- LONG JUMP: Jonah Daniels placed third with a mark of 22-9.75.
- WEIGHT THROW: Bruce Robinson was third in the event with a distance of 61-5.00, which moves him up to second on the indoor top-five.
- 60 METERS: Curtis Thomas finished fourth with a time of 6.99 seconds.

USF will take a week off before travelling back to Birmingham for the American Athletic Conference Indoor Championships, which will take place on Feb. 23-24.
