Robinson, Daniels Notch Event Wins on Day One of Bulls Invitational

TAMPA, MARCH 22, 2018 – The USF track and field team hosted day one of the Bulls Invitational on Thursday in Tampa and finished the successful day with two event wins and 10 total top five finishes.
The Bulls swept the top two spots in the men's hammer throw to open the two-day event. Junior
Bruce Robinson (Little Falls, N.Y.) won the event with a mark of 175-00 for his first event win of the season. Senior
Zach Diaczynsky (Naples, Fla.) finished second with a mark of 172-04.
Junior
Jonah Daniels (Jacksonville, Fla.) took first in the men's long jump with a mark of 24-7.00. The performance improves Daniels' career best and moves him into sixth on the USF all-time outdoor top 10.
In the invitational section of the women's long jump, senior Kaitlyn Gill (Charlotte, N.C.) took third with a mark of 19-2.75, moving her into sixth place on the USF outdoor charts.
Notable Performances
- 10K: Senior John Weaver (Jacksonville, Fla.) took second in the men's 10,000 meters with a time of 32:05.74.
- LONG JUMP:Â Freshman Javonia Ellis (Lake Minneola, Fla.) took second in the women's long jump with a mark of 18-0.50. On the men's side, sophomore Luke Lafferty (Manorville, N.Y.) finished fifth in the men's long jump with a mark of 23-3.25.
- HAMMER: Junior Ashley Wilson (Tampa) finished fifth in the women's hammer throw with a mark of 173-03.
- HEPTATHLON: Freshman Kiara Miles (Tampa) finished third in the heptathlon's first event, the 100 meter hurdles, with a time of 14.87. Miles also finished fourth in the 200 meters with a time of 25.82. Through four events, Miles is currently fourth. The heptathlon will finish on Fiday with the long jump, javelin, and 800 meters.
- DISCUS: Bruce Robinson took fourth in the men's discus with a mark of 143-02, a new personal record.

The Bulls Invitational finishes on Friday at the USF Track and Field Stadium. Events start at 10 a.m. with the 3,000 meter steeplechase. The event is free to attend for all fans.
