Men’s Tennis Wins Home Opener, 6-1, Against George Washington

TAMPA (MAR. 9, 2018)  – Excellent doubles play across all three courts helped set the tone for the USF men's tennis team's dominate win over George Washington in the Bulls' home opener on Friday afternoon.
 
The Bulls (3-7) showed great poise and determination across all six courts of singles action, winning five of six matches against George Washington (0-13) to take a 6-1 victory in front of more than 200 fans at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts.
 
Sophomore Sean Burnette (Wesley Chapel) clinched the match for the Bulls winning 6-2, 6-0 in No. 5 singles.
 
On court one, senior Grayson Goldin (Bradenton) cranked out a 6-1, 6-3 result over Chris Reynolds to seal USF's third point in No. 1 singles. Freshman Jourdan Kast (Boca Raton) recorded USF's first singles point winning at No. 6 singles as his opponent retired after falling down 3-0, meanwhile senior Peter Bertran (Santiago, Dominican Republic) put up a 6-0, 6-7, 9-7 victory in No. 2 singles. At No. 3 singles, Pierre Luquet (Draguignan, Fance) posted a 7-5, 7-6 victory.
 
In doubles action, the Bulls' No. 1 team of Jakub Wojcik (Delray Beach) and Bertran battled to clinched the doubles point for the Bulls, beating Chris Reynolds and Jakub Behun, 6-3. The win improved the USF duo's season record to an impressive 6-1 mark. At the No. 3 doubles spot, USF's Luquet and Burnette paired up to quickly defeat the team of Amian Sahoo and Kaan Tuna, 6-0.
