Bulls Win Five Events at Rice
HOUSTON, TEXAS, April 21, 2018 – The Bulls had a successful day in Houston at the J. Fred Duckett Twilight Meet hosted by Rice University, winning five different events on Saturday. The Bulls also had eight other top three finishes in their first twilight meet of the outdoor season.
Junior
Jonah Daniels (Jacksonville, Fla.) got the Bulls on the board with the first event victory, winning the men's long jump with a mark of 24-2.50. Daniels cleared the field by seven inches in his second win of the outdoor season. His first win came at the Bulls Invitational.
Freshman
Brittany Krug (Edensburg, Pa.) had the second victory of the afternoon for the Bulls. She won the women's javelin with a mark of 142-10, besting the field by more than four feet.
Senior
David Bell (Jacksonville, Fla.) followed up his school record performance in the men's pole vault with a win for the second straight weekend, taking the event with a mark of 16-8.00. USF swept the top two spots in the event, with junior
Joe Fogarasi (Columbia, Conn.) taking second with a mark of 16-2.00.
Senior
Rachael O'Neil (Seattle, Wash.) brought home the win in the women's 100 meter hurdles, finishing with a time of 14.00 seconds. The event victory is her first as a Bull.
Junior
D'angelo Ennis (Kingston, Jamaica) won the triple jump for the second time this outdoor season, posting a mark of 49-9.25, clearing the second place finisher by nearly two feet. The mark is his second best of the season.
Freshman
Javonia Ellis (Lake Minneola, Fla.) placed second in the women's long jump with a mark of 19-8.75. The mark is a new personal best for her and puts her on the USF outdoor top-10 charts in sixth place all-time.

Other Notable Performances
- 100 METERS: The USF sprinting duo of Chelsea Francis (Jacksonville, Fla.) and Jada Massie (Bradenton, Fla.) took second and third in the women's 100 meters, running times of 11.75 and 11.97 seconds, respectively. Francis also took third in the women's 200 meters, posting a time of 23.88 seconds. On the men's side, Curtis Thomas (Auburndale, Fla.) took third with a time of 10.61 seconds.
- 200 METERS: Sophomore Maurice Nock (Sanford, Fla.) placed third in the men's 200 meters with a time of 21.27 seconds.
- 3K STEEPLECHASE: Freshman Rania Samhouri (Tampa, Fla.) finished fourth in the women's 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 11:25.10.
- POLE VAULT: The Bulls placed two student-athletes on the podium in the women's pole vault, with Nicole Carroll (Land O'Lakes, Fla.) taking second with a mark of 12-6.75 and Casey Phelan (Uniontown, Pa.) placing third at 12-0.75.
- 4x100 METER RELAY: The men's 4x100 meter relay team of Maurice Nock, Luke Lafferty, Taquon Terry and Curtis Thomas placed third with a time of 40.86 seconds.
- HAMMER THROW: The Bulls took fourth and fifth place in the men's hammer throw, with Bruce Robinson (Little Falls, N.Y.) taking fourth with a mark of 187-09 and Zach Diaczynsky (Naples, Fla.) placing fifth with a throw of 186-05. Diaczynsky's mark is a personal best and keeps him firmly in fourth place on the USF outdoor charts.
Up Next
The Bulls wrap up the regular season with a short trip to Jacksonville for the UNF Invitational on Friday. The Bulls will then have a week off before traveling to Cincinnati for the American Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships from May 11-13.
