Bulls 7th Inning Rally Comes up Short in Loss to UCF

TAMPA (April 28, 2018) – USF trailed going into the seventh inning but rallied to load the bases and score one before falling to UCF, 5-1.

Seniors Cassidy Boyle (Buchanan, N.Y.) and Astin Donovan (Guilford, Conn.) each went 2-for-3 in the game, and the Bulls (33-19, 11-6) scattered a total of eight hits to match the Knights (31-20, 9-8).

USF was ready to rally in the seventh inning when sophomore Brooke Hartman (Port Orange, Fla.) drew a walk, and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt. Junior Macy Cook (Uniontown, Ohio) and Boyle each singled to load the bases, and junior Lindsey Devitt (Jacksonville, Fla.) hit an RBI single up the middle. Hartman scored on the play, and freshman Kyndall Williams (Trenton, Fla.) who was in to pinch run was caught at home plate after the ball was thrown from center field.
