MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The University of South Florida scored three runs in the 11th inning to beat West Virginia 5-2 Sunday afternoon in Morgantown.

USF improves to 15-15 overall and 4-7 in the BIG EAST.

After recording a combined 47 runs in the first two games, the Bulls and Mountaineers combined for just seven runs from 14 hits in the final game of the BIG EAST weekend series.

Both teams went scoreless through three innings, as four Bulls and three Mountaineers struck out, and combined, only five batters over the minimum were faced. USF scored one in the fourth and added another in the seventh before WVU tied the game in the eighth. The Bulls scored three in the top of the 11th to earn their 15th win of the season.

USF had six hits in the game as junior Chris Rey doubled in the fourth and singled in the 10th and freshman Ryan Lockwood doubled in the 11th. Freshman Jon Koscso and juniors Brian Hobbs and Mike Consolmagno each had base hits in the game as well. USF drew five walks and three players were hit by a pitch, increasing the team's HBP season total to 76.

In his fifth start of the year, freshman Derrick Stultz went 7.1 innings, striking out six, allowing two runs from six hits. Freshman left hander Junior Carlin came in for relief, striking out two in 2.2 innings, earning his first collegiate win. Freshman Stephen Hunt closed the game, allowing one hit, and striking out one.

USF manufactured its first run in the top of the fourth, as Rey doubled down the left line, then classmate Brandon Smith put down a sac bunt to move Rey to third. Hobbs tapped a ball to the pitcher, which scored Rey and gave USF the 1-0 lead.

The Bulls tallied their second run in the seventh, as USF drew a walk and WVU collected a pair of errors in the field. Senior Eric Baumann led off the inning with a walk, then was relieved at first base by pinch runner Mike Consolmagno. Koscso reached on an error, which moved Consolmagno to third. A deep sac fly by Addison Maruszak to left center field scored Consolmagno, putting the Bulls ahead 2-0.

In the bottom of the eighth, USF allowed two runs from two hits, which tied the game heading into the final inning.

In the 11th, USF scored three runs to win their fifth BIG EAST contest. With one out, Consolmagno drew a walk then advanced to second on an error by the Mountaineers. Koscso reached with a dribbler to third base, then Maruszak was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Angelberger punched a sharp hit to the WVU third baseman, who did not make a play at any base, scoring the go-ahead run. Lockwood then stepped to the plate and sent a double down the left line to score two more and give USF the 5-2 win.

After five consecutive weeks of five games in seven days, the Bulls look forward to just four games this week, traveling to UCF on Tuesday, then hosting three games against Louisville this weekend. The first pitch on Tuesday in Orlando will fly at 7p.m. On Friday and Saturday the Bulls and Cardinals meet at 7 p.m., then Sunday the teams wrap up the series at 1 p.m.
