USF Signee Feliz to Play in Nike Hoop Summit

TAMPA, MARCH 24, 2016 – USF men's basketball signee Andres Feliz was one of 12 players selected to play for the World Team in the 2016 Nike Hoop Summit on April 9 at 3 p.m. ET.

The World Team features elite international players who are 19 years or younger. They will compete against the USA Basketball Junior National Select Team that is comprised of top U.S. high school senior boys at the Moda Center in Portland, Ore.

Feliz, a 6-foot, 2-inch, guard from the Dominican Republic played the past two seasons for West Oaks Academy in Orlando. Feliz averaged 23.7 points per game during the regular season to guide West Oaks to a 25-4 record. He led the Flame to its second consecutive conference title after averaging 26 points per game in the Sunshine Independent Athletic Association tournament to earn MVP honors for the second-straight season.

Last summer, Feliz averaged 18.9 points to lead all participants at the 19-and-under FIBA World Championships as a member of the Dominican Republic National Team. He also averaged 5.0 rebounds and 3.7 assists.

Feliz is one of three who signed with USF during the early signing period. He will join Troy Baxter and Malik Fitts as freshmen in the fall.

The USF men's basketball team is led by Orlando Antigua, who will begin his third season as the head coach after spending the previous six season as an assistant to Naismith Hall of Fame coach John Calipari. The Bulls will return eight from last season's team including American Athletic Conference All-Rookie Team member Jahmal McMurray who scored the second-most points ever by a USF freshman last season. The Bulls will also have four additions that sat out last season; Tulio Da Silva, Troy Holston Jr. Isaiah Manderson and Geno Thorpe. Newcomers next season include the three that signed with the Bulls in fall - Troy Baxter, Andreas Feliz and Malik Fitts.

USF has retired three numbers in its 45-year history: Chucky Atkins (12), Charlie Bradley (30) and Radenko Dobras (31). The Bulls have earned three NCAA tournament bids and appeared in the NIT eight times. In the 2011-12 season, USF was one win away from an appearance in the Sweet 16.
