The USF men's basketball team is led by head coach Brian Gregory. On March 22, 2017, Gregory was introduced as the 10th head coach in program history. He previously led programs at Georgia Tech (2011-16) and Dayton (2003-11). Gregory spent nearly a decade as an assistant coach under Michigan State's Hall of Fame head coach Tom Izzo and helped the Spartans win the 2000 NCAA National Championship. Gregory owns nearly 250 career head coaching wins and six postseason appearances, including the 2010 NIT Championship. In his second season at the helm of the Bulls, Gregory led the team to the best win turnaround in the NCAA, the most single-season wins in school history and the 2019 College Basketball Invitational championship.
USF has retired three numbers in its 47-year history: Chucky Atkins (12), Charlie Bradley (30) and Radenko Dobras (31). The Bulls have earned three NCAA tournament bids, appeared in the NIT eight times and won the 2019 College Basketball Invitational.

- Where is your current city of residence? Atlanta, Ga.
- What was your favorite part about being a USF student-athlete? What made being a student-athlete so special was our fans and our family atmosphere.
- What was your most memorable moment as a student-athlete at USF? Midnight Madness was always my favorite!
- Which game most sticks out for you and why? My freshman year when we beat Texas at home in 1999. I remember watching Altron Jackson and B.B. Waldon having great games and the fans going crazy. That game showed me how hard I needed to compete to be a top player.
- What was the toughest arena you ever played in? Playing at Memphis was always tough.
- Who was the best player you ever played against? Andre Owens from the University of Houston.
- Who was your favorite teammate and why? Chonsey Asbury. When I had a problem or needed advice, he always had my back.
- What would you tell someone considering attending USF? Coming to USF is well worth it if you're looking for a school that has grit and character. If you want to be a successful student-athlete, USF is the place to be!
- How often do you watch the USF basketball team play? I watch them more now than I have in the past. It was difficult for me to watch as much as I wanted when I played professionally abroad for 12 years.
- When was the last time you were back on campus and how much has it changed since you were a student? My daughter was a USF track and field recruit, so we came back for homecoming weekend. The campus has grown and the athletics family is amazing!
- What are your thoughts on Coach Gregory and what he has been able to accomplish at USF in a short amount of time? I believe in him. He has definitely turned the program around since his arrival!
