Baseball America Names McClanahan Preseason All-American
TAMPA, Jan. 29, 2018 – USF baseball redshirt-sophomore left-hander
Shane McClanahan (Cape Coral, Fla.) has been named a first team preseason All-American by Baseball America, as announced by the publication Monday morning. Â Â Â
This is McClanahan's third preseason All-America nod in the month of January. He was named to the Perfect Game All-America second team on Jan. 9 and D1Baseball third team on Jan. 23.
???????McClanahan was a unanimous all-conference selection in December and was named a freshman All-American by Perfect Game, Baseball America and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association in 2017.
???????McClanahan enters his second season with the Bulls as one of the nation's top pro prospects. He has been projected as a top-10 pick in June's MLB Draft by D1Baseball, Perfect Game, MLB.com and Baseball America.
???????McClanahan paced the American Athletic Conference with 12.32 strikeouts per nine innings in 2017, good for eighth in the country. McClanahan finished the year ninth nationally allowing 5.68 hits per nine innings.
The Bulls officially began preseason practice on Jan. 26 and will hold an open practice on Friday, Feb. 2 around 6:30 p.m. Media day is slated for Jan. 30 at 1:15 p.m. along the concourse between both the USF baseball and softball pavilions.

The University of South Florida baseball team is one of the fastest rising programs in the country. The Bulls reached the NCAA Regionals in 2015 for the first time in 13 years and followed that success with a 42-19 record and second NCAA regional trip in three years in 2017.
