TAMPA, April 12, 2018 – After having last weekend off, the USF track and field team returns to action on Friday in Gainesville at the Tom Jones Memorial hosted by the University of Florida. The Bulls will join eight other division I teams competing in the meet, including three nationally ranked teams.

Events in Gainesville will start at 11 a.m. with four different field events: the women's high jump, women's long jump, women's discus, and men's hammer throw. The day will wrap up at 6:05 p.m. with the men's 4x400 meter relay.

In addition to the 49 Bulls student-athletes that will make the short trip to Gainesville, USF multi-event athletes Kaitlyn Kirby (heptathlon) and Raekwon Scott (decathlon) traveled to Knoxville, Tenn. for the Tennessee Relays, which started Thursday morning. Live results to follow Scott and Kirby in Tennessee can be found HERE. Competition for them will run all day on Thursday and conclude on Friday.

The Tennessee Relays marks the first multi-event for Scott of the outdoor season. Kirby has competed in one heptathlon so far this outdoor season, at the Texas Relays from March 28-31. Kirby set the second-best USF heptathlon mark ever in the event with a score of 5,163.

The USF track and field team gets to compete on home turf for the first and only time this season as they host the Bulls Invitational on Thursday and Friday. The Bulls will host teams from 24 other schools in the home meet.

This weekend marks the sixth of eight regular season outdoor events, concluding with the American Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships, hosted by Cincinnati from May 11-13. The Bulls will also be hosting the NCAA East Regionals at the USF Track and Field Stadium in May. Ticket information for that event can be found here HERE.

Recapping the Texas Relays, Bobcat Invitational, and Florida Relays
The Bulls last competed on the weekend of March 28-31, participating in three different events. USF sent student-athletes to the Texas Relays in Austin, Texas, the Bobcat Invitational at Texas State University, and the Florida Relays at the University of Florida.

The Bulls posted seven different marks on the all-time USF outdoor charts over the weekend. Ashley Wilson (Tampa) also posted an event victory, winning the women's hammer throw at the Bobcat Invitational with a mark of 176-5.00.
