Four-Time Champion Bulls Fall to Tulane, 4-3, in American Athletic Conference Title Match

DALLAS (APRIL 22, 2018) – Competing for its fifth straight league title, USF fought valiantly in a 4-3 loss to No. 2 seed Tulane in Sunday's American Athletic Conference tournament championship match.
 
Fifth-seeded USF made a memorable run to the title match, knocking off No. 4 seeded Wichita State and top-seeded Memphis before falling to 14-1 all-time in the American Athletic Conference Championship.
 
Sunday's title match at Turpin Stadium came down to the final set in the No. 6 singles spot after the Bulls clinched the doubles point early in the action. Senior Peter Bertran (Santiago, Dominican Republic) set up the dramatic finish by pulling out a three-set win to tie the match at 3-3.
 
Sophomore Jakub Wojcik (Delray Beach, Fla.) gave the Bulls a 2-1 lead with a
7-6 (5), 6-3 win in the fifth singles spot.
 
Wojcik and Bertran teamed up yet again to dominate as a pair, finishing at No. 2 doubles with a 6-4 victory over Tyler Schick and Hamish Stewart.
 
The sophomore duo of Sean Burnette (Wesley Chapel, Fla.) and Pierre Luquet (Draguignan, France) clinched the doubles point for the Bulls on court 3.
