Women’s Basketball (2003-07)
Jessica Dickson still has the distinction of being USF basketball’s all-time leading scorer – male of female – with 2,402 career points during her four-year Bulls career (2003-07) and led the women’s program to four straight postseason appearances.
Powered by Dickson’s eye-catching production, USF booked its first NCAA tournament trip in 2006 and made three WNIT appearances during her collegiate playing career. Aside from program-best career points total, Dickson still ranks first in USF history in career scoring average (19.2 ppg) after leading the Bulls in scoring in each of her four seasons. Dickson also ranks ninth in program history with 746 career rebounds and second in career starts (125) after starting every game she played in for USF.
Dickson averaged 19.6 points and 7.9 rebounds per game as a senior on the way to earning All-Big East honors. During her senior season, Dickson was named a finalist for the John R. Wooden Award, a Street & Smith Honorable Mention All-American, a Naismith Award Top 50 member, the top wing player in America by ESPN.com, a Naismith Award top-50 member, a two-time Big East Player of the Week and a three-time member of the Big East honor roll. All that came after Dickson was named the Big East Preseason Player of the Year and an ESPN.com Preseason Second Team All-American along with landing spots on the Preseason Wade Trophy List and the Preseason John R. Wooden Award Watch List.
As a junior, Dickson was named a Women's Basketball Magazine Honorable Mention All-American, Associated Press Honorable Mention All-American and to the All-Big East First Team after averaging 22.0 points per game. Her 682 points as a junior rank fourth in USF season history and her scoring during that season boosted the Bulls to their first NCAA tournament appearance in 2006.
Averaging 16.7 points as a sophomore, Dickson was named first team All-Conference USA and helped the Bulls win 21 games on the way to a WNIT second-round appearance in 2005. In her rookie season, Dickson averaged 18.6 points per game and was named Conference USA Freshman of the Year. After her run with the Bulls, Dickson was selected 21st overall in the 2007 WNBA Draft by the Sacramento Monarchs.
Dickson was inducted into the USF Athletics Hall of Fame in 2012, becoming the second-ever women’s basketball player to earn the prestigious honor.
