George Selvie Wins Bill Willis Trophy

 

Selvie Earns Consensus First Team All-America Honors 

TAMPA, Fla. ? University of South Florida defensive end George Selvie has been named the winner of the 2007 Bill Willis Trophy by the Touchdown Club of Columbus. The award is given annually to the top defensive lineman in college football.

Named for the late Hall of Fame legend Bill Willis, who broke the color barrier for all African-Americans in both college (Ohio State) and professional football (Cleveland Browns), the award will be presented during the 53rd Touchdown Club of Columbus Awards Banquet on Saturday, February 9, 2008 at The Lifestyle Communities Pavilion in Downtown Columbus. 

Selvie leads the nation in tackles for loss (31.5) and is second in sacks (14.5).  The sophomore from Pensacola, Florida will lead the Bulls into the Sun Bowl on New Year's Eve. 

Previous winners of the Bill Willis Award include North Carolina's Julius Peppers, Arizona State's Terrell Suggs, Oklahoma' Tommie Harris and Miami's Warren Sapp.
