Robinson Concludes USF Career At NCAA Singles Second Round

ATHENS, Ga. (May 24, 2007) ? University of South Florida senior Shadisha Robinson played her final match for the Bulls on Thursday afternoon at the Dan Magill Tennis Center, falling in NCAA Singles second-round action to 14th ranked Celia Durkin of Stanford.

Durkin captured the match in straight sets, 6-2, 7-6, to give Robinson a final overall record of 26-15 in her senior season.  She was the first USF women's tennis player to advance past the first round of NCAA singles play since Laura Garcia in 1984.  Durkin moves on to face No. 1 seed Audra Cohen of Miami in tomorrow's Round of 16.

A two-time All-American in doubles and an All-American in singles her sophomore year; Robinson amassed a career singles record of 105-52 and a doubles mark of 59-24.  She played her first three years at the University of Georgia where she once carried an ITA preseason No. 1 ranking in doubles.  She earned First Team All-SEC honors in doubles during her sophomore campaign and reached a career-best singles ranking of No. 4 that year.

During her one season with the Bulls, Robinson reached the semifinals of both the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships and the Wilson/ITA South Regional Championships in the fall.  She earned BIG EAST distinction as the women's Most Outstanding Player, helping USF to capture its first BIG EAST title in any sport.  She was named to both the all-conference singles and doubles teams as well.
