Athens, Ga. ? The #28-ranked University of South Florida women's tennis team (6-2) was unable to upset the #5-ranked Georgia Bulldogs (2-0), falling, 6-1, Sunday afternoon at the Lindsay Hopkins Indoor Facility in Athens.
This was USF's fourth match in as many days.
”You have to play the best of the best to aspire to become one of the elite teams in college tennis,” said head coach Agustin Moreno. “We can only learn and get better from matches like these against the top programs in the country.”
USF's lone victory came at the top singles position where freshman Janette Bejikova made her collegiate tennis debut by knocking off #45 Kelley Hyndman, 6-3, 6-4.
“Janette was a big spark for us at the top spot in the lineup,” said Moreno about newly eligible Janette Bejikova. “I have no doubt she will become one of the best players in college tennis.”
