Monday Afternoon Practice Report

Watch Leavitt's Complete Post Practice Media Session

TAMPA --
There was a new addition to the USF football practice on Monday and it is the brainchild of USF head coach Jim Leavitt.

Inscribed on one of the lightposts located between the two practice fields is the motivation phrase, "Earn every breath he gives you."

Coach Leavitt hand selected the message and wanted it in a prominent location to remind his team of the hardwork and dedication required for a successful season.

? USF head coach Jim Leavitt said that he was pleased with the progress of defensive end George Selvie and Terrell McClain, who both worked with the starting unit during Monday's practice.

The duo has been battling ankles injuries since the FIU game.  Both played in the Pitt game and contributed big plays. Selvie had an 18-yard tackle for loss and Terrell McClain had a forced fumble.

? There was more positive progress from Brouce Mompremier.  The senior linebacker participated in defensive and 7-on-7 drills for the first time since suffering a neck injury (neuropraxia) against FIU.  Contact was off limits for Mompremier, who has not been cleared by the USF doctors to return to full football activities.

The Miami native was back at middle linebacker and working with the first unit during the majority of the non-contact drills.

? Kickoff for the USF game at Louisville on Oct. 25 has not been set by the league offices yet, but an announcement is expected this week.
