
USF Makes Big Leap To No. 14 in Both Polls

TAMPA ? The University of South Florida football team is ranked No. 14 in this week's USA Today Coaches Poll and the Associated Press Poll. Now they will wait to hear their standing in the first BCS rankings of the 2008 season, which will be announced on Fox this afternoon between 4 and 4:30 p.m.
The Bulls jumped six spots in the coaches and five spots in the AP Poll
The Bulls are coming off a sound 45-13 win over Syracuse.
It marks the ninth straight week (one preseason, eight regular season) that USF has been ranked, which is the longest stretch in the BIG EAST.
USF is also the top ranked team in the BIG EAST for the sixth straight week. Pitt came in at No. 17 in the AP and No. 20 in the coaches. Cincinnati is receiving votes in both polls.
Texas strengthened its hold on the No. 1 ranking with 58 first place votes from the coaches and 65 from the media. They are followed by No. 2 Alabama, No. 3 Penn State, No. 4 USC and No. 5 Oklahoma in the coaches poll. The AP Poll has Oklahoma at No. 4 and Florida at No. 5.
