USF's Golf Course, The Claw

The Claw at USF remains one of Tampa Bay's most challenging golf courses, and is recognized as having one of the finest layouts in the area.

The par-71 layout is an example of Florida golf at its best, with natural lakes and ponds carving out the fairways amid the cypress and oak groves. The greens are small, well-bunkered and elevated. The course is overseeded with rye, from tee to green, each winter to ensure excellent playing conditions year round.

The Claw is an excellent test of golf for practice and competition. Playing this course daily will make you a better player both physically and mentally. Former USF golf team members and regulars who honed their skills on “The Claw”, that play either on the PGA or LPGA tour include: Wayne Levi, Tim Petrovic, Dale Eggeling, Laurel Kean, Tonia Abitbol, Sally Dee, Catrin Nilsmark, Susan Veasey, Anna Acker-Macosko, Kelly Lagedrost and Vicki Odegard.

Facilities for the golf teams include both men's and women's locker rooms located in the clubhouse, and a team member only facility at the driving range used for meetings, reviewing video and relaxation.

In addition to the university course, USF golf team members have privileges at many of the area's public and private courses.
