TAMPA ?
Five Bulls earned BIG EAST Conference postseason awards, which were announced on Wednesday morning.

Senior linebacker Tyrone McKenzie and junior defensive end George Selvie were named to the All-BIG EAST First Team.

McKenzie was a unanimous pick by the league's coaches after racking up 105 tackles and 13.5 tackles for loss during the regular season.  It marks the third consecutive season (2007-08 with USF and 2006 at Iowa State) that he has registered 100 tackles.   The Riverview native was a second-team BIG EAST selection in 2007.

It is the second straight season that Selvie has been named to the first team.  The Pensacola native had 12.5 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks this season, despite battling an ankle injury and missing a large chunk of time in three games.  Selvie has already been named a first team All-American by the American Football Coaches Association, making him the first two-time All-American in USF history.

Senior strong safety Carlton Williams, senior offensive guard Matt Huners, senior offensive tackle Marc Dile and senior tight end Cedric Hill were named second team All-BIG EAST.

Williams, who owns the USF career record for games played (50) and games started (46), has been the steady leader on the defensive side of the ball all season.  Williams has 51 tackles, three interceptions, six pass breakups and two tackles for loss this season.

Hill has 15 receptions for 15 receptions for 187 yards and two touchdowns this season. The Valdosta, Ga., native has played in every game, 50, since stepping on campus at USF.

Huners and Dile have played in every game this season and have consistently graded out as the best offensive lineman on the team.

So far this postseason, Selvie and McKenzie have been consensus first team All-BIG EAST selections on all the media teams.  Williams has also been a first team selection on multiple media lists.

UConn's Donald Brown was named Offensive Player of the Year.  Pitt linebacker Scott McKillop was named Defensive Player of the Year.  Louisville running back Victor Anderson was named Rookie of the Year.  Cincinnati picked up both the Coach of the Year (Brian Kelly) and Special Teams Player of the Year (Mardy Gilyard).

The conference coaches nominate their own players for the final ballot.  Once the ballot is distributed, coaches are not permitted to vote for their school's student-athletes.
