WoMen's Tennis Wins Fifth-Straight

QUEENS, N.Y. ? The University of South Florida women's tennis team (11-5) won their fifth-straight match Monday afternoon, defeating the St. John's Red Storm, 6-1, in Queens, N.Y.
After dropping the doubles point and falling behind 1-0 to the Red Storm, the Bulls charged back to take all six singles' matches en route to the victory.
No. 49-ranked Janette Bejlkova cruised to her ninth-straight victory in as many matches when she defeated Maria Zivcicova at the top spot, 6-4, 6-2. The freshman from Clearwater High has settled into her own as of late, winning her last five matches in straight sets, dropping only a combined 14 games.
Junior Iciri Rai raised her win total to 11 by defeating Emily Barnett at the No. 4 spot, 6-1, 6-3.
Jessica Zok picked up her 10th victory in her sophomore campaign by taking down Alison Adamski, 7-5, 6-1 at the second singles spot.
Liz Cruz (8-6), Natalia Guevara (8-5) and Lauren Shumate (7-1) each earned victories for the Bulls on the afternoon.
The Green and Gold will begin a six-match home stand when they face the Buffalo Bulls on Thursday, March 13 at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts. This will be the first meeting between the two teams who share the Bulls as their respected mascot. The first serve is set for 11 a.m.
