TAMPA -- On the eve of the regular season home finale, the staff at GoUSFBulls.com asked the 2009 seniors to share their fondest memory of their careers at USF:
George Selvie
"It had to be the first time that I saw Raymond James Stadium filled for a USF game (the West Virginia game in 2007). That for me was amazing to see just how far we had come in just the three years that I had been here."
Chris Robinson
"The best memory for me here at USF had to be my first two-and-a-half sack game against Syracuse."
Jessie Hester
"Mine is pretty easy ... Auburn. That play that we ran (to win the game) was one of the plays that we ran during the walk-thru in the parking garage at the hotel before coming to the game. We knew that if we got man-to-man coverage down there in end zone that we were going to run shank corner. Believe it or not it happened and I just tried my best to get open, and when the ball was in the air, I knew I had to catch it. It was a play that we would only use in a certain situation and if the game went into overtime, and that was a play they liked to use if the opportunity came up. It happened the way we expected it. The reason I liked it was because it was my first touchdown catch and I was having a good game that day. Also, with being an SEC school and Auburn with all the tradition, it made my day."
Kion Wilson
"My favorite memories would be Coach Leavitt's pregame rituals. His random sprints, especially when he is at a stand-still and he randomly just takes off and gets going. It's just pretty exciting to see him get going."
Matt Grothe
"Personally, my one memory has to be the Auburn game, just because it was Auburn and we beat them at their place, and it was probably the best birthday present that I have ever received in my entire life. That was the day I turned 21. I think the coolest part was in overtime when you couldn't even hear yourself think because everybody was just yelling so loud, and then Jessie makes that catch and it goes from your ears ringing because everyone is screaming so loud to being able to hear a pin drop from the other side of the field. The one thing that came to my mind when Jessie caught the pass to win it was I can't believe we just did this. To beat a team that I had watched since I was a little kid, it was just something I'll never forget."
Theo Wilson
"My best memory was playing in my first bowl game, completing a pass and winning the bowl (St. Pete Bowl). We weren't fortunate enough to play for a BIG EAST championship, so playing in a bowl game and winning a ring; that would be it for me."
Delbert Alvarado
"I have a couple. The first would have to be the West Virginia game in 2007 when we sold Raymond James Stadium out for the first time. That atmosphere was unlike anything I have ever experienced as a college athlete. It was unbelievable to have that stadium sold out and to beat them when they were No. 5 and fans rushing onto the field, and hugging Matt (Grothe), that was just one of my top memories here as a football player."
"The other had to watch Maikon hit the game winner against Kansas was really exciting and to be a part of that whole thing was great, and going into Auburn and beating them under those circumstances and being able to contribute."
Mo Plancher
"My fondest memory of USF has to be signing with them. That has to be my biggest memory. I came here because I felt like they really wanted me, it was close to home, and I felt like I would get a chance to play here early."
Ben Busbee
"With me being from Alabama and going up there to beat Auburn was a dream come true. I grew up an Alabama Crimson Tide fan and going up there and facing Auburn, it was like facing the enemy. We were the underdog, and going in there and beating them in front of so many family and friends - I think I had about 40 family and friends come to that game - it was amazing. For them to be at that game, and to experience that win with them was definitely my greatest memory."
Nate Allen
" My favorite memory has to be when we beat West Virginia. (Which time?) Definitely 2007."
