TAMPA -- The USF football program moved its weekly press conference up one day, to Monday, to accomodate the tight schedule around its Thursday night game at Rutgers.

It was actually the second round of interviews recapping the West Virginia win and looking forward to the trip North to Piscataway.

In case you haven't already made your plans, the Bulls and Scarlet Knights kickoff at 7:30 p.m. on ESPN, ESPN HD and on 970 WFLA AM on the local radio dial.

USF will take an early flight to New Jersey and get into Piscataway early on Wednesday afternoon.

Louisville Details Announced
ESPN and the BIG EAST Network set the kickoff time for homecoming next Saturday (Nov. 21) for noon Eastern.  2009 Homecoming will feature the Louisville Cardinals taking on your No. 23/24 USF Bulls at Raymond James Stadium.

Nate Allen to the Senior Bowl
Senior safety Nate Allen has accepted an invitation to play in the 2010 Under Armour Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala.

The bowl game is a showcase event for NFL prospects and is packed with a week full of workouts prior to the Jan. 30 game.  Once again, the game and entire week leading up will be covered extensively by the NFL Network.

Allen is considered one of the top safety prospects in college football thanks to a stellar career in Tampa.  Allen has eight career interceptions, 192 tackles, three fumble recoveries and four forced fumbles.

B.J. Daniels Still a National Leader
We asked you last week if you would be surprised that B.J. Daniels was averaging more rushing yards per game than Terrelle Pryor or Jeremiah Massoli. What about Tim Tebow? Tebow's average rushing yards per game dropped to 64.22, which puts him just behind Daniels, who is averaging 64.88.

Daniels still leads the country in average yards per completion at 17.1, and you can see the entire breakdown on the right. Right behind him is Standford freshman quarterback Andrew Luck, who is averaging 16.5, while fellow freshmen Matt Barkley of USC (14.7) and Tom Savage of Rutgers (14.3) are at No. 8 and No. 10, respectively.

Press Conference Quotes
You can watch the full interviews by clicking on the links above, but here are a few quotes from the coaches from media day.

Joe Tresey
On his impressions of freshman quarterback Tom Savage...
"He has gotten better every week and he is very efficient. They have done a really good job of bringing him along as a freshman and giving him the right throws. I think he has gotten better every week and he is a big guy too. He has shown at times to have mobility and they have done a really good job of managing him."

On playing on a Thursday night...
"I don't think playing on Thursday night anymore is that big of a deal because they have had Thursday night games on ESPN for how many years now? It is a part of college football and the BIG EAST plays on Thursday, Friday and Saturday night. Having a bye week makes it a lot easier to manage. When you have to turn around and play on Saturday and then turn around and play on Thursday night it becomes much more complicated for preparation."

On Rutgers not having many turnovers...
"Their running backs do a great job with ball security. They are well coached and they have been giving their quarterback decisions that aren't complicated. He throws the football away if it's not there and that is because the coaching staff has done a really good job with managing him."

Mike Canales
On how big of an impact not having wide receiver Carlton Mitchell is...
"It just means someone else has to step up. A.J. Love has to step over into that end position and other guys who have been waiting for their time are going to have to step up and play. We have had Dontavia Bogan in different positions throughout the week but the bottom line is someone has to step up."

On what problems the Rutgers defense presents...
"This is probably the hardest we have worked all year long on a defense. They are a heavy blitz team and they create so many different looks so you have to try to put yourself in a position where you can try to eliminate a number of blitzes he could use. We have worked extremely hard over the last week and a half and we're very excited about the opportunity to go up there and play. I can't say how well they do defensively and they create a lot of problems for you."

On the different looks for BJ and the adjustments he may have to make...
"I don't know if it so much adjustments but it's just the recognition of where they are coming from and identifying who the blitz keys are. This is something we have worked extremely hard on and we spent time during the spring working on Rutgers. We go back to things we worked on then and things we worked on in quarterback school. We spent so much time during the spring working on Rutgers and identifying the blitzes. We want to be smart in what we do because they have so many different things that they do."

Jim Leavitt
Opening Statement...
"We had some real good practices on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. We took off Thursday and Friday and the guys went out and recruited. We came back and practiced on Saturday and yesterday they had an outstanding practice. They worked really hard yesterday and hopefully we will get a good one in today.

You get to a point in this part of the season where you don't want to be out on the practice field as long as you were before because you have played eight games and you are trying to keep guys as healthy as possible. We have cut down our practices a little bit. We would normally going about two hours and fifteen minutes and yesterday we went for an hour and fifty minutes and that is about what it is today.

We have been working on Rutgers and I am sure they have been working on us as well. This is a very good football team and the biggest change I have seen offensively is when they added both freshmen quarterbacks. They are a very explosive football team and Tim Brown is one of the most explosive players we have seen this year. Defensively they present all kinds of problems because they move quite a bit. They know what they are doing and their kicking game is very sound. They are very good at what they do and it's a great challenge. We are excited about the opportunity to play Rutgers."

On why he gives Rutgers special attention...
"They are just so different at what they do. We also gave special attention to the odd front because we knew that was something we were going to face."

On their strong offensive line and how they will do against it...
"We will find out Thursday night. They are very big and they are very strong. Anthony Davis is one of the best offensive linemen there is. Everybody just knows that he is very good. They have been working through their offensive line since the beginning of the year. They have some different guys who are competing to get in there and they are very good. The height and the arm reach out of those guys is as big of a group as we have seen. If we want to have a chance to win then we are going to have to play well on Thursday night."

BJ Daniels
On what they have to do be successful against Rutgers...
"They are a very disciplined defense and they are pretty good at what they do. We have to take advantage of the open areas and the holes that they leave. If they blitz one guy then that hole is going to be open so we have to make sure we take advantage of all opportunities."

On spring preparation...
"It is just about refreshing my memory and going over the stuff that we did. Rutgers was definitely a game that we marked on our calendars after how they beat us last year. We are doing the things that we need to do to get ready and we just have to execute come game time."

On if it is this just another game...
"Yeah it is. The first was really exciting and I am excited this time too but it is a little different this time because I have been there and done it. Right now it is just about me going in there and doing the things I am supposed to do.
