Inaugural Hall of Fame Inductee: Charlie Bradley

Charley Bradley

Charlie Bradley is generally considered the greatest men's basketball player to ever play at USF.

He was the first player in program history to have his jersey number retired (was retired Feb. 14, 1987). Bradley is USF's career scoring leader with 2,319 points.  He scored in double figures in an astonishing 84 consecutive games and also scored 30-or-more points 24 times.

Bradley led USF to its first 20-win season in 1982-83 as the program posted a 22-10 record and earned its second post-season bid to the NIT. USF played in two NITs in the Bradley era, also earning an invitation in 1985.

  • USF's career scoring leader with 2,319 points scored over four seasons
  • Career averages include a school record 19.7 points per game and 5.4 rebounds
  • In addition to being the all-time USF leading scorer, he is still the USF career record-holder in scoring average (19.6 ppg), field goals made (892), field goals attempted (1,966), free throws made (459) and free throws attempted (606)
  • Scored a school-record 42 points against Florida State, Dec. 10, 1982
  • Averaged a school-record 28.2 points as a sophomoree
  • Owns the top three positions on USF's all-time single-season scoring list with 902 points in 1983, 652 points in 1985 and 625 points in 1984, as he led the team in scoring in each of his final three seasons
  • Owns or shares 13 USF single-game, single-season and career records

CONFERENCE HONORS

  • An All-Sun Belt Conference first-team selection as a sophomore, junior and senior
  • Averaged a school-record 28.2 points as a sophomore and was named the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year
  • One of 10 players selected to the Sun Belt's All-Decade Team that helped recognize the league's achievements following its first 10 years (1976-86).

NATIONAL TEAM PARTICIPATION

  • The first Sun Belt player to be invited to the United States Olympic Trials in 1984

PROFESSIONAL SPORTS HISTORY

  • Drafted in the third round by the Sacramento Kings in 1985. Played professionally in Europe, South America and Venezuela.
