Clay Cartwright Our son started in the band at USF in 2006. We had never been to a USF game, and since coming to Florida in 2000, had never gotten excited about any specific team in Florida. It was the first game when the starting quarterback got injured and you to...ok the reigns from there. We've followed you your whole career Matt, and have become avid fanatical Bulls fans. Our son is no longer in the band, but we still root for the Bulls and go to some of the games. You area class player. But more than that, a class person. You'll land on your feet, because people like you always do. My wife and I will always be Florida Bulls fans from here on out, and YOU sir are the reason. Thanks for some wonderful games and memories. We wish you a speedy recovery, and a bright future wherever you go. Clay & Connie Cartwright.
Tom Frame Matt, we're all with you. You make us proud!!! Stay in there and keep the Bulls motivated.

Troy Fields Matt. Just a note to wish you a speedy recovery. Just wanted to also say thanks for all the good moments. Auburn, WVU 2006 and 2007, UCF's first game, Kansas, so many more. Thanks too for your demeanor off the field. Posing for a picture at a ba...sketball game with my son when you obviously had better things to do, showed the character that makes you a leader on and off the field. Good luck and again thanks.
Lance Hallmark Matt, hope you recover quickly and painlessly. We've enjoyed watching you these last four years and really think you are someone special. Your leadership is as every bit as exceptional as your playing. I hope your future brings everything you strive for.
Doris A Lee I will be watching the FSU/Bulls game next Saturday, one of the few I am able to get up here in N. Mississippi and wish the Bulls good luck in the game...I was Athletic Promotions Mgr. for the University of Tampa Athletic Dept. up until they gave up ...football in 1974 and we were scheduled to play FSU that coming season so my heart will be with the entire Bulls team.
Doris A Lee I live in N. Mississippi but from Tampa Bay origionally and follow USF football and enjoyed Matt's playing and was sick when the announcement of the loss of his services for the remaining part of the season came across the bottom of my TV screen...

Matt,
So sorry to hear about your injury. I went through the same thing several years ago. I am a die hard Cardinal fan from the Louisville area, and saw the report on one of our message boards. I want to say that you have great talent and you have always given us FITS. Every time we've played USF the contention has been about "how do we deal with Grothe"? You're a great mobile QB and hopefully will continue to have a great football career.Don't let it get you down, and don't stop playing. Best of luck to you and best of luck to USF in the BE this season.

Matt,
USF football is a part of our family and we feel as though you are too. You have become the heartbeat of that team and we have watched the program grow behind your arm. It will be hard to be there and not see #8 leading the offense. We will be praying for you and your recovery.
Best of luck in your future and we will miss you.
Theresa Bulanda
My kids and I have thoroughly enjoyed watching you play for the Bulls. You are not just an outstanding quarterback (we love your agility, the way you scramble and get out of tackles) but you are also a great leader for your team and the USF community. We wish you a speedy recovery and our thoughts and prayers are with you.

To Matt Grothe and his family -
Our thoughts and prayers go out to you as we look back at your wonderful career at USF. We remember sitting behind your parents at that first Spring game and seeing how very proud they were of you (though I think I remember your mom being nervous for you... but moms tend to do that). It's been such a joy to watch you mature as an athlete and a young man. The very best of luck to you as you continue to provide the leadership that this team needs and as you move on to bigger and better things in the future.
The Wisgerhof Family
I want to wish Matt the best and i hope you have a speedy recover. i have watched you play from the first time you hit the field. GOOD LUCK
