Wofford Postgame Quotes

Postgame Press Conference - Raymond James Stadium
Jim Leavitt, Head Coach, USF
Opening Statement-
"I hope that everybody realizes how good that team is we just played. When I talked to everybody on Tuesday, I told them it would be a systematic ball game, and that team is that good. They're really well coached.
That option offense, I hope I don't see that again. It is very difficult and a big challenge. It was the first time, really, that we faced that kind of option. I was running our defense, that's how many years ago it was, because I was running our defense for about the first four years. It seems like 10 years ago. We faced Nichols State, Southern Utah, Georgia Southern, and I want to tell you something, it's a very, very difficult challenge.
We shot ourselves in the foot early, and we looked like a young team that hadn't played a game. I wasn't too concerned; our defense was getting them in third and long. We just couldn't stop them. We had guys like Kayvon Webster who played every snap. It's amazing for a true freshman to do what he did. You saw what Lindsey Lamar could do. You saw Sam Barrington get in the game. Leslie Stirrups looks like he did some good things.
I'm very proud of the team, and how they came out in the second half and played. (Jerome) Murphy, when he punched the ball out, was so big. And Tyson (Butler), how he got on that thing before it got out of bounds was huge. Now, we've got a lot of work to do. I think you all saw that; there were some flashes there."
On the turnovers in the game -
"They were big, especially that safety going into halftime. It was a game of turnovers. If we wouldn't have turned it over early, we would have had a lot more scoring opportunities. We were really fortunate with that turnover down here, right before it went out of bounds at the six yard line. Their offense got going a little bit. I was really proud of our defense."
On Lamar and Plancher -
"They both did a really nice job. We have to get Aston Samuels going. Lindsey did a nice job, and we knew he would."
B.J. Daniels, Quarterback, USF
On how it felt to get in the game-
"It felt really good to help the team. It felt good to start the game and play and help the team win.
On what they expected from Wofford-
"We knew coming in that they were a good team and that their offense was very tricky and that they were going to run the ball. We knew we were going to be in a little bit of a position. We just tried to capitalize and not turn over the ball."
