Tuesday Rewind: Intro Video, Lamar, JPP & Leavitt

Tampa -- Our marketing department enjoyed lots of rave reviews for its work on the 2009 football intro video. So we decided to upload it onto GoUSFBulls.com and BullsVision.

Meanwhile, Week 2 of the USF football media luncheon is in the books.

Both will be taking their first USF road trips this weekend. For Lamar, it will be his first trip to Kentucky. He's only left the south on three other occasions: two trips to Detroit for track and field and one trip to New York City for vacation.

The youngster admitted that the soreness he experienced Sunday and Monday was worse than anything after a high school football game.

As for Pierre-Paul, the chatter about his athletic ability continues. Last night at practice he did a backflip for defensive line coach Kevin Patrick. He was wearing shoulder pads and thigh pads last night, which had to make it even more difficult.

While that feat was impressive, he may have outdone himself in the game when he hurdled a Wofford offensive lineman. We believe it was on the 12th defensive snap of the game, and we are working on getting the video.

The USF staff has been talking about the length of Pierre-Paul's arms and how he is able to create seperation with those limbs, so we decided to measure him. From finger tip to finger tip, his wingspan measured 81 inches, or 6 feet, 9 inches.

For comparison's sake, that would be the same height of a power forward in basketball.

Coach Leavitt said in his weekly press conference that he was giving up Twitter because it was becoming a distraction.

He also announced his top 25 poll following the Week 1 games, but said he wouldn't make his votes public after this week because he would rather talk about the opponent and his own team each week. He thinks his votes could become a distraction, and he doesn't want that.

Many people dislike when Leavitt talks about limiting distractions and the need to focus on the task ahead.

We love it.

All coach Leavitt cares about is winning the next football game and anything that he thinks could lessen his team's chances, he is willing to give up.

We can't argue with that.
