Team Notes
- With today's loss USF's record drops to 3-2 on the season ... It marks the sixth straight season that the Bulls have started the year with at least three wins after five games, and the 10th time in the program's 14-year history.
- Today's 13-9 loss to the Orange drops USF's record in conference openers to 5-3 all-time, and to 3-3 since its first year in the BIG EAST Conference in 2005 ... Today was the second straight year that the Bulls opened their BIG EAST slate against Syracuse ... USF handed the Orange a 34-20 loss on Oct. 3, 2009 at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse.
- Today's loss to Syracuse snapped a two-game winning streak in Homecoming games for the Bulls ... USF is now 9-5 all-time in Homecoming games.
- Today's attendance of 41,917marks the 17th time in the last 22 games at Raymond James Stadium - dating back to the 2007 season - that the Bulls have played in front of a home crowd of 40,000 or better.
- USF's all-time record drops to 98-59 with its loss to Syracuse ... In addition; the Bulls are now 62-15 all-time at Raymond James Stadium, since moving into the venue in 1998, and 68-19 all-time at home (Tampa Stadium and Raymond James Stadium).
- USF's record in day games drops to 30-22 all-time with today's loss to Syracuse ... The Bulls' last day game was on Sept. 11 at 12:21 p.m. when they dropped a 38-14 decision to Florida in Gainesville.
- Today's game will be USF's last home game until Wednesday, Nov. 3 when it will butt heads with Rutgers (7 p.m., ESPN2), and its last Saturday game until Nov. 13 when it faces Louisville (Time TBA) ... The 25-day stretch is the third longest between home games for the Bulls only behind the 56 days during the 2005 season (Sept. 24 vs. Louisville, 45-14 win through Nov. 19 vs. Cincinnati, 31-16 win) and the 35 days during the 2002 campaign (Sept. 7 vs. Northern Illinois (37-6 win through Oct. 12 vs. Southern Miss, 16-13 win) ... The 56 days between games in 2005 was due to a series of road games, a bye, and hurricanes that swept through Florida during the month of September and October.
- Syracuse's 14-play, 98-yard, touchdown drive in the fourth quarter was the longest by a USF opponent this season.
Individual Notes
- OC Sampson Genus, S Mistral Raymond, LB Jacquian Williams and LB Armando Sanchez were USF's captains for today's game against Syracuse ... Genus, Raymond and Williams are all captains for the entire season, while Sanchez is this week's weekly captain ... Today is the second time this year that Sanchez has been selected as the weekly captain (Stony Brook).
- Today's offensive starters were: SE Dontavia Bogan, LT Mark Popek, LG Jeremiah Warren, C Sampson Genus, RG Chaz Hine, RT Jacob Sims, TE Kevin Gidrey, FL Evan Landi, FL Lindsey Lamar, QB B.J. Daniels, RB Mo Plancher.
- Today's defensive starters were: LE Craig Marshall, NT Cory Grissom, DT Terrell McClain, RE David Bedford, SLB Jacquian Williams, MLB Sam Barrington, WLB DeDe Lattimore, LC Mistral Raymond, FS Kayvon Webster, SS Jon Lejiste, RC Quenton Washington.
- DE Craig Marshall recorded three sacks in today's loss which is tied for the third most sacks in a single game in school history ... He joins seven others including former Bull George Selvie who did it last against North Carolina State on Sept. 15, 2007 ... With his three sacks this afternoon, Marshall now has four on the year and nine for his career.
- Marshall's three sacks are also the most by a Bull in a BIG EAST game.
- WR Lidsey Lamar's 94-yard kickoff return for a touchdown is tied for the third longest in school history behind Mike Jenkins' 100-yard return against Cincinnati (Nov. 3, 2007) and J.R. Reed's 96-yard return against Memphis (Nov. 29, 2003) ... Lamar joins Chad Simpson (vs. Louisville, Sept. 24, 2005) and Charlie Jackson (vs. Charleston Southern, Nov. 1, 1997) as USF players who have returned kick offs 94-yards for a touchdown ... Lamar's return is also the first since Jenkins' in 2007.
- LB Sabbath Joseph's sack in the third quarter was the first of his career.
- WR Dontavia Bogan was QB B.J. Daniels' main passing target with four receptions for 67 yards, including a long of 32.

TEAM NOTES
Syracuse improves to 4-1 overall with its victory today. The Orange is 4-1 for the first time since the 1999 season when it began the year 5-1.
Today's win also marked the first time since 2007 that SU won its BIGEAST opener. The Orange is 11-8 in conference-opening games, including a 4-2 record on the road.
The victory is Syracuse's first against USF.
SU is 9-3 all-time on October 9.
The Orange defense recorded two inceptions for the second consecutive game.
The Syracuse defense also registered a season-high tying four sacks. SU now as 12 sacks in its first five games.
The Orange offense rushed for 178 yards, giving them 427 yards rushing in the last two contests.
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
Senior nose tackle Bud Tribbey joined 2010 team captains Ryan Bartholomew, Derrell Smith and Rob Long for the game today.
Senior cornerback Da'Mon Merkerson recorded his second career interception, picking off B.J. Daniels in the end zone on USF's first possession. Merkerson's first career interception came in SU's last game against Colgate.
Senior safety Max Suter registered his first sack of the season on USF's second possession.
Junior running back Antwon Bailey matched his career long with a 30-yard reception on SU's first drive of the second quarter.
Senior cornerback Mike Holmes tallied his second career sack during the second quarter. Holmes' other sack came at Akron earlier this season.
Senior running back Delone Carter is now ninth on SU's all-time rushing list with 2,395 yards. He passed the great Ernie Davis (1959-61) who rushed for 2,386 yards during his storied Syracuse career. Carter finished the game with 105 yards on 26 carriers.
It was Carter's eighth 100-yard game, tying him for eighth with Bill Hurley (1975-79) on SU's career list.
Freshman kicker Ross Krautman went 2-for-2, making a 31-yard field goal in the second quarter and a 41-yard try in the third quarter. Krautman is now 6-of-7 on the season.
Redshirt senior defensive tackle Anthony Perkins blocked a USF extra point in the third quarter. It was his first career blocked kick. It also marked the first time SU has blocked a PAT since 2007 (Brandon Gilbeaux vs. Connecticut).
Freshman defensive back Jeremi Wilkes recorded his first career interception in the third quarter.
Junior wide receiver Marcus Sales tallied his first reception of the season, a six-yard touchdown catch to give the Orange a 13-9 lead with 7:15 remaining.
Sophomore safety Shamarko Thomas registered his first sack of the season in the fourth game.
