Trio of Bulls Pick Up BIG EAST Weekly Honors

TAMPA - Members of the University of South Florida football team picked up a trio of weekly honors from the BIG EAST Conference following the Bulls' thrilling 28-27 win over Rutgers last Wednesday.

Senior Jacquian Williams was named defensive player of the week and Maikon Bonani grabbed special team player of the week honors for the second time in his career, while senior Mo Plancher was listed on the weekly honor roll following his career day.

Williams, who was tabbed as BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week for the first time, had game and career highs of 11 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks to help USF to a 28-27 win against Rutgers. Williams assisted on a third-quarter sack that backed the Scarlet Knights to their own 7-yard line in a drive that ended in a safety. He later registered a sack on fourth down in USF territory as Rutgers threatened to score the go-ahead points in the final four minutes.

Bonani was named BIG EAST Special Teams Player of the Week for the second time in his career after he scored nine points and was perfect on five placements to help USF in the win against Rutgers. Bonani made field goals from 47 and 21 yards, improving to 8-for-9 on field goal attempts since taking over as the Bulls' regular placekicker.

Plancher set career highs in carries (21), rushing yards (135), receiving yards (45) and all-purpose yards (180) in the Bulls' win.

USF will look for its third-straight win when the Bulls head to Louisville this Saturday in a game which will be televised on ESPNU. Kickoff is set for noon.
