Photo Name: NCAA Admits USF When USF first began intercollegiate sports in the mid-60s, the school wasn't technically a part of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) yet, but that all changed when the NCAA admitted the school for the 1968-69 athletic season, as represented by these articles detailing the process. Why was it important? USF had swimmers qualify for nationals one season, but since USF was not a part of the NCAA yet, they were ineligible.
