
Women's Golf Takes Second At BIG EAST, Men Place 11th

PALM HARBOR, Fla.-- The University of South Florida Golf Programs wrapped up their 2009-10 seasons on Tuesday at the BIG EAST Championships in Palm Harbor, Fla.
The women's team finished the championships in second place at Innisbrook Resort's Island Course, their best finish in the BIG EAST since joining the conference in 2005.
The Bulls finished being Louisville, who won the league title for the second consecutive year, and their fourth in the past five years.
USF was led by freshman sensation Shena Yang who shot 13-over 226 to finish second individually in the tournament.
The Bulls also got a dominating performance out of senior Rachel Edwards who finished in fourth place after shooting a combined 15-over 228 for the championship.
Ana Lopez and Ploi Desjubha finished in a tie for 12th place as individuals after shooting 25-over 238s as part of the second-place Bulls' squad.
The USF men's squad finished in 11th as a team after firing 898 throughout the three day tournament.
The Bulls were led by Luke Leibel who finished in 19th place individually, finishing the week at 7-over 220, including a 3-under second round.
Georgetown took the team title on the men's side by shooting an 873 as a team to earn their first BIG EAST title since 1998.
Hoya senior Vincenzo Salina took the individual championship on a playoff hole as he birdied to win the championship.
After finishing second in last year's BIG EAST Championship, Louisville's Sara Maude-Juneau took the individual honors on the women's side finishing four strokes of Yang.
