Team Notes

  • Following tonight's win over Western Kentucky, USF improved its record against Sun Belt Conference schools to 11-4 and have won eight straight games against team's currently in the league dating back to the 2001 season ... The Bulls last loss to a Sun Belt member was a 45-9 setback to Middle Tennessee State on Nov. 11, 2000 in Murfreesboro, Tenn. ... USF has faced the Hilltoppers the most out of all the Sun Belt schools improving its record to 4-2 after tonight's win ... The Bulls played Western Kentucky last defeating the Hilltoppers, 35-13, on Sept. 12  ... USF has also faced Sun Belt foes: FAU (2-0), FIU (2-0), Middle Tennessee State (0-1), North Texas (2-0), and Troy (1-1) ... The Bulls will face another Sun Belt member next weekend, Saturday, Oct. 2 at 7 p.m. (Bright House Sports Network) when they butt heads with FAU.
  • Tonight's attendance of 40,276 marks the 17th time in the last 20 games at Raymond James Stadium - dating back to the 2007 season - that the Bulls have played in front of a home crowd of 40,000 or better.
  • USF improves its all-time record to 97-58 with its win over Western Kentucky ... In addition; the Bulls are now 61-14 all-time at Raymond James Stadium, since moving into the venue in 1998, and 67-18 all-time at home (Tampa Stadium and Raymond James Stadium).
  • USF also improves its record in night games to 67-37 and in games in 80-degrees or hotter to 41-15.
  • With tonight's win, USF improves its record to 13-8 after regular season bye weeks in the 13-year history of the program ... Bulls head coach Skip Holts also raised his record in games following regular season bye weeks to 6-3.
  • USF wore its popular white helmets for just the sixth time ever tonight against Western Kentucky ... The Bulls improved their record to 4-2 all-time when wearing the white helmet with tonight's win ... USF donned the white helmet for the first time in the St. Petersburg Bowl against Memphis - a 41-14 win - on Dec. 20, 2008 at Tropicana Field ... The Bulls also wore them at home against Cincinnati (34-17 loss) on Oct. 15, 2009, in the International Bowl against Northern Illinois (27-3 win) on Jan. 2, 2009 at the Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ont., and this season against Stony Brook (59-14 win) on Sept. 4 and at Florida (38-14 loss) on Sept. 11.
  • USF rushed for 226 yards on 44 carries on the night with all three of the Bulls' touchdowns coming on the ground.

Individual Notes

  • OC Sampson Genus, S Mistral Raymond, LB Jacquian Williams and P Justin Brockhaus-Kann were USF's captains for tonight's game against Western Kentucky ... Genus, Raymond and Williams are all captains for the entire season, while Brockhaus-Kann is this week's weekly captain.
  • Tonight's offensive starters were: SE Stephen Brazo-Brown, LT Jamar B ass, LG Jeremiah Warren, C Sampson Genus, RG Chaz Hine, RT Jacob Sims, TE Kevin Gidrey, FL Evan Landy, QB B.J. Daniels, RB Mo Plancher.
  • Tonight's defensive starters were: LE Craig Marshall, NT Cory Grissom, DT Terrell McClain, RE David Bedford, SLB Jacquian Williams, MLB Sam Barrington, WLB DeDe Lattimore, LC Mistral Raymond, SS Jon Lejiste, FS Jerrell Young, RC Quenton Washington.
  • RB Mo Plancher got the only score of the first half when he scampered 13yards with 5:09 left in the first half ... It was Plancher's 12th career rushing touchdown and his second of the season.
  • FB Richard Kelly scored his second career touchdown on a two-yard run with 8:33 left in the third quarter.
  • CB Terrence Mitchell's 67-yard punt return was the longest return of any kind for the Bulls this season.
  • QB B.J. Daniels ran for his 11th career rushing touchdown with 1:50 left in the third quarter on a one-yard run.
  • DE Craig Marshall recorded his second career interception tonight when he picked off Western Kentucky Kawaun Jakes with less than seven minutes left in the game.
  • K Maikon Bonani's 33-yard field goal was his 16th career field goal in 22 attempts with 5:19 left in the game ... That was Bonani's first field goal make and attempt since Dec. 20, 2008 when he kicked a 37-yard boot in the third quarter of the St. Petersburg Bowl against Memphis ... Bonani missed last season after suffering a broken vertebrae during an on-the-job-accident over the summer of 2008.
  • RB Demitris Murray rushed for a career-high 116 yards on 15 carries tonight against Western Kentucky.
