TAMPA – True freshman Terrence Mitchell was named this week's BIG EAST Special Teams Player of the Week, while Demetris Murray was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll.
Mitchell averaged 47 yards on two punt returns, including a 67-yard return that led to a key second-half touchdown in USF's 24-12 win against Western Kentucky. Mitchell also had a 27-yard punt return that gave the Bulls possession in Western Kentucky territory.
The 67-yard punt return is tied for the fourth longest in school history and is the longest non-TD return. The 67-yard return is tied with Theo Wilson's 67-yard return for a touchdown in the 2008 season opener against UT-Martin. Mitchell's 94 punt return yards are the most since Marcus Edwards had 124 in the 2008 opener.
Murray rushed for a career-high 115 yards on 15 carries. He leads the team with 232 yards on the season, averaging over 77 yards per game and an impressive 6.6 per carry.
