Letters From Louk: Rise and Shine

The alarm will go off at 5:00 Friday.

AM.

There aren't a lot of things I'll cheerfully get up at that time for, but fortunately college football is one of them.

There have only been a handful of these made for TV morning starts in Bulls football history, and there has never been one the day after Thanksgiving.  So, here is another quirk in our strange, strange 2011 schedule.

It will be fun to see the stadium workers and USF staffers getting ready so early. The flurry of activity around the stadium will begin well before dawn. It'll be especially fun to see some early tailgaters in the parking lots.  Hats off to you, Bulls fans that make it out early.  You are the best of the best.

There is plenty of intrigue in this game.  The Bulls must win at least one more game to make it to a bowl game.  In this year's convoluted world of college football, they may have to win two.  Chances are there will be more six-win teams than bowl slots in 2011.

Louisville, at 4-2 in the Big East, is making an improbable run at the league title.

If B.J. Daniels can play, he will.  The young man is as tough as they come.  But most likely, Bobby Eveld will pilot the Bulls offense.  Skip Holtz and Todd Fitch have been preparing Eveld all week, and the guy who came off the bench to beat Miami in 2010 will be ready.

It's not easy scheduling for fans, this morning game after Thanksgiving.  But the USF players are going to show up and be ready to once again give everything they have.  I hope you can get to the stadium to cheer them on.

Radio coverage will move across the dial to 620 WDAE for this one, along with all the statewide affiliates on the USF-IMG network.  TV will be ESPN2.

Remember how long the college football offseason is.  We're not that far away from going months without football.  Don't miss this one Friday.
