TAMPA - A dynamic USF scoring duo has landed on the Big East's weekly honor roll after making a ton of trips to the end zone Saturday.
Running back Darrell Scott and receiver Andre Davis combined for six touchdowns in No. 17 USF's 70-17 win over Florida A&M on Saturday.
Scott rushed for 146 yards and three touchdowns on 12 carries. He also added an 84-yard TD catch that allowed him to become the first-ever Bull to score on a rush and catch of more than 50 yards in a game and a season.
"I thought he did a great job of making some people miss in the open field, and then was able to turn and take it the distance," head coach Skip Holtz said.
Davis made some big plays of his own.
The freshman's first-career catch turned into the first touchdown of his career on a 27-yard pass from B.J. Daniels that put USF ahead, 49-14, in the second quarter.
"I think Andre Davis is going to be a talent," Holtz said.
The Tampa native was back in the end zone in the third quarter when he blocked a punt and returned it 11 yards for a touchdown. Davis was able to pull off the scoop and score thanks to him staying alert while a crowd of more than 50,000 was rocking Raymond James Stadium.
"I blocked it. I was looking for it at first, but then I got my head around and I found it," Davis said.
Scott and Davis' selections mark the third time in three weeks USF (3-0) has had at least one representative honored by the Big East.
