
USF Finishes 10th at ICSA National Championships

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The University of South Florida Women's Sailing Team finished 10th at the Sperry Top-Sider/Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) National Championship on Friday. It is the second-straight year that the Bulls have finished in the top 10 in the 18-team field.
The Bulls closed out the three-day, 18-race finals with 335 total team points while hosting the event with Eckerd College and the St. Petersburg Yacht Club. Dartmouth won the team title with 203 points followed by St. Mary's (241) in second and Cornell (267) in third.
The A Division squad of senior Abby Featherstone and junior Dominique Wright finished eighth in their fleet with 160 points. In the B Division, senior Colleen Hartman and freshman Darcy Jensen scored 175 points to finish 13th.
The national championships started on Tuesday with the Bulls finishing sixth out of 18 teams in the semifinals to earn a spot in the semifinals. The Bulls sat in 11th after the first day of finals with 112 points. They moved into 10th after eight races on Thursday and held steady in that spot over the final four races.
USF's A Division team finished strong by taking second place in the final two races under sunny skies and steady winds around seven knots. The B Division squad closed out the regatta strong by finishing third in the final race on Friday.
