Bulls To Practice In Lakeland On March 21
USF Spring Game Set For March 28
TAMPA, FEB. 19, 2015 – USF Football will begin preparations for head coach Willie Taggart's third season at the helm when the Bulls open spring practice on Monday, Feb. 23 at the Frank Morsani Football Practice Complex.
As he did last season, Taggart is opening all of the Bulls' spring practice sessions for viewing by the public and the Bulls will once again take one practice on the road to a Bay Area location. USF will conduct 14 spring practice sessions over a span of five weeks, taking the first week of March off for the University's spring break, before the 2015 USF Spring Game on Saturday, March 28. The spring game will return to Corbett Stadium on the USF campus for the second straight season.
“I'm excited! I can't wait to get our players and our coaching staff on the field,” Taggart said. “It's a new year. I really like the energy and the attitude of our team heading into the spring. They have worked really hard in off season conditioning and I'm expecting a very competitive and productive spring.”
The Bulls will practice Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings starting at 9 a.m. and Saturdays starting at 2:30 p.m. through the first three weeks. USF will practice Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 9 a.m. in week four prior to the spring game. Fans are encouraged to park in the Sycamore lot on campus, which is adjacent to the Morsani Football Practice Complex.
USF will take practice on the road on Saturday, March 21 when the Bulls will practice at Bryant Stadium in Lakeland. That practice, scheduled to start at 11 a.m., is free and open to the public.
USF returns 14 starters (6 offense, 7 defense and 1 specialist) for Taggart's third season at the helm. The Bulls will return their top five tacklers (9 the top 12 overall) and players that accounted for 73 percent of the team's tackles in 2014. USF returns 100 percent of its rushing and passing yardage from 2014, including 1,000-yard rusher Marlon Mack, and 50 percent of its receptions and receiving yards.
The USF Football program completed its 18th season and 15th at the FBS level. The Bulls have made six bowl appearances, including every season between 2005-10, and have four bowl game victories. USF has produced 14 All-America selections, 23 NFL Draft picks and reached the No. 2 ranking in the Associated Press Poll in 2007.
