Bulls Pick Up Four Wins on Day Two at Texas Tech

Women's Tennis USF

Martinez Earns Singles Win in Loss to Seminoles

TAMPA (March 12, 2015)— Olga Martinez picked up the lone win for the USF women's tennis team as the Bulls fell to the Florida State Seminoles, 6-1, at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts Thursday afternoon.

The sophomore dropped her first match before storming back to take the second match and the third set tiebreaker. Martinez picked up the win with a 5-7, 7-5, 10-5 decision over Gabrielle Castenda.

The Bulls (2-8) started off doubles play down on two courts but we're able to fight back to tie up each court at three games apiece. However, FSU slid away claiming the doubles point on courts two and three. The Olaya Garrido-Rivas/Jessica Cortes Chaves pair led on court one, 5-3, but were unable to finish.

USF fought hard in singles, but the fight ultimately fell short as the Bulls dropped five of their six matches. Juliana Cardosa went all the way to a first set tiebreak on court one, but could not fend off FSU's Mia Vriens.

The Bulls return to action tomorrow, Friday, March 13, as they take on Furman. The match is slated to begin at noon and is free to the public.
