July 28, 2015 | Men's Tennis, W Track & Field
PROVIDENCE, R.I (July 28, 2015)—American Athletic Conference Commissioner Mike Aresco has announced the 21 teams that have been recognized with 2014-15 Team Academic Excellence Awards, including USF men's tennis and women's indoor track and field.
The two teams were rewarded for having the highest collective grade-point averages in their respective sports. The men's tennis team was also one of five conference championship teams to be recognized.
The selections are made by the conference's Academic Affairs Committee. The winners were chosen based on the 2014-15 grade-point average of each student-athlete who appeared on an institution's roster as of the last contest of the championship segment in each conference-sponsored sport.
The list of honored teams includes UConn's women's basketball team, which went 38-1 and won its third straight NCAA championship in 2014-15. UConn women's basketball was one of five American Athletic Conference championship teams to be recognized.
Memphis had five of its teams earn the honor to lead all institutions. UCF had three teams chosen.
