Bulls Win Third Straight, Defeat Troy, 4-0

TAMPA (March 11, 2016) – The USF women's tennis team won its third straight match Friday afternoon by defeating No. 73 Troy, 4-0, at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts.
The Bulls (5-5) once again came out strong and secured the doubles point to take an early 1-0 lead. USF tandem of Vera Bessonova (Moscow, Russia) and Olga Martinez (Barcelona, Spain) took the first doubles match, 6-3. Jessica Cortes Chaves (Monterrey, Mexico) and Juliana Cardosa (Descalvado, Brazil) quickly followed with a 6-4 victory to clinch the doubles point for the Bulls.
Freshman Vanja Klaric (Serbia) dominated her opponent in straight sets, 6-0, 6-1, to earn the third point of the afternoon. Klaric is now 8-0 in singles play this season. Cardosa also won in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0, and improved her singles record to 5-3 on the season.
The last point of the afternoon for the Bulls was clinched by Chaves on the featured court. Chaves cruised past her opponent in straights, 6-0, 6-3.
The Bulls are back in action Saturday, March 12 against SMU at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts at 11 a.m. Admission for all home matches is free.
