The five-year strategic plan outlines the aspirational vision of the Athletic Department focusing on specific and actionable goals.

TAMPA, MAY 19, 2016 -USF Director of Athletics Mark Harlan on Thursday presented the department's five-year strategic plan to the USF Board of Trustees Academics & Campus Environment (ACE) workgroup, outlining five key areas and action plans for the program's continued growth and success.

The five-year plan outlines USF Athletics' opportunities and challenges, strategies for success, and specified metrics that will be used to track progress for USF's 19 varsity teams and nearly 500 student-athletes.

“USF Athletics is positioned well to have tremendous success as a department and as a valued asset for the university's national prominence,” Harlan said. “Through this strategic framework, the next five years will usher in an era of focused excellence for our student-athletes, coaches, staff and all of our constituents both in the USF System and our supporters throughout the Tampa Bay region and beyond.”

Central to the plan are five areas of focus:

1)   Student-Athlete Academic Excellence & Success

2)   Competitive Greatness

3)   Marketing, Branding & Communication

4)   Expanded and Diversified Revenue & Resources

5)   Facilities – Renovation & Construction

About USF Athletics

USF Athletics sponsors 19 varsity men's and women's teams that compete in 11 different sports, 18 competing at the NCAA Division I level in the American Athletic Conference. The Bulls' athletic program celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2015, having started with a men's soccer contest in 1965. Nearly 500 student-athletes train and compete in the athletic district located on the east end of the Tampa, Fla. campus. The Bulls have claimed eight conference titles, so far, in their first three seasons in The American. Eight USF programs reached NCAA post-season competition in the 2014-15 season as USF posted an 83 percent Graduation Success Rate among student-athletes, with 182 earning conference all-academic recognition.
