Mack Selected By The Colts In NFL Draft

Mack posted three straight 1,000-yard rushing seasons for the Bulls

TAMPA, APRIL 29, 2017 – USF all-time leading rusher Marlon Mack (Sarasota) was selected by the Indianapolis Colts in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft on Saturday. Mack, selected with the 143rd overall pick, is the first-ever Bulls' running back to be selected in the NFL Draft as USF football saw its total of NFL Draft picks rise to 26 in 20 years of the program, 15 in the last seven drafts.

Mack was impressive at the NFL Combine running a 4.50 in the 40-yard dash and 35.5-inch vertical. The three-time first team all-conference selection eclipsed 1,000-yards rushing in all three of his seasons at USF before departing for the NFL after his junior season.

Mack left USF as the Bulls' all-time leading rusher (3,609 yards), all-purpose yardage leader (4,107) and all-time leader in rushing touchdowns with 32. Known as the “Mack Attack,” he averaged 6.2 yards per carry and 100.2 yards per game over his career, both USF records, and posted 20 career 100-yard rushing games, a USF record. He also added 65 receptions, second most ever for a USF running back, and 498 yards receiving.

Mack's 6.82 yards per carry in 2016 ranked 13th in the nation as he logged 1,187 yards and 15 touchdowns on the ground while catching a career-best 28 passes for 227 yards.

USF finished the 2016 season ranked No. 19 in the Associated Press poll with a school record 11 wins following the program's fifth-ever bowl victory in the Birmingham Bowl. The Bulls' 11-2 record marked the fifth-best winning percentage in FBS football in 2016 and one of just 11 teams to reach 11 wins. USF set nearly 40 team and individual records in 2016, including team records for total yards (6,650), rushing yards (3,714), touchdowns (77) and scoring (569). Junior quarterback Quinton Flowers was named the American Conference Offensive Player of the Year and led a school-record 10 players named to the all-conference team, six of which, including Flowers, will return in 2017.
