Bulls in the NFL: Week 4 Update

TAMPA, OCT. 2, 2018 – Aaron Lynch had a breakout performance for the Chicago Bears against Jason Pierre-Paul and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in week 4 of the NFL regular season.
Lynch put together his best game of the season with three solo tackles, a sack, two QB hurries and an interception he returned 20 yards in the Bears' 48-10 victory over the Bucs. The fifth-year pro has totaled five tackles and two sacks at outside linebacker in four games this season (one start).
Lynch was selected by San Francisco in the fifth round of the 2014 NFL Draft after leading the Bulls as a defensive end with six sacks and 12.5 tackles for loss in 2013.
Despite the loss, Pierre-Paul continued his solid season with a team-leading seven tackles (six solo), a sack, two tackles for loss and a QB hurry. The ninth-year pro has registered at least one sack in three straight games and moved up to 17
th on sack list among active players with 62.5.
In his first season with the Bucs, JPP is tied for sixth in the league with 4.0 sacks and he's totaled 17 tackles (16 solo) with a forced fumble through four games (four starts). As a Bull in 2009, JPP posted 6.5 sacks, 16.5 tackles for loss, 45 tackles, an interception and two forced fumbles on the way to earning All-America honors. Pierre-Paul is still the highest drafted Bull in program history, going 15th overall to the New York Giants in 2010.

WR MARQUEZ VALDES-SCANTLING: USF's season leader in receiving yards made his first-career start and recorded a 38-yard catch in Green Bay's 22-0 victory over Buffalo. Season stats – two catches for 41 yards, one kickoff return for 21 yards, two special teams tackles in four games.
- DT DEADRIN SENAT: Atlanta's third-round draft pick posted a tackle for loss and QB hurry in the Falcons' 37-36 loss to Cincinnati. Season stats – seven tackles (six solo) in three games.
- DE ERIC LEE: The second-year pro was promoted from Detroit's practice squad and made one tackle in the Lions' 26-24 loss to Dallas.
- DT TERRELL MCCLAIN: The eighth-year pro played but did not record a tackle in Atlanta's 37-36 loss to Cincinnati. Season stats – four tackles in four games (three starts).
- RB MARLON MACK: Mack Attack was inactive for Indianapolis' 37-34 overtime loss to Houston due to a nagging hamstring injury. Season stats – 10 rushes for 34 yards, 1 catch for 2 yards in one game (one start).
- DT BRUCE HECTOR: The first-year pro played 10 snaps in Philadelphia's 26-23 loss to Tennessee. Hector has seen action in four games this season. Read about how Hector became the lone undrafted rookie to make the Eagles' initial 53-man roster HERE.
- CB DEATRICK NICHOLS: The first-year pro was inactive for Arizona's 20-17 loss to Seattle. Nichols made his NFL regular season debut in week 2.
- CB KAYVON WEBSTER: Webster was inactive for Houston's 37-34 overtime win over Indianapolis. The sixth-year pro signed a one-year deal with the Texans in late August and is making progress in his recovery from an Achilles injury he suffered in week 14 of last season.
- C AUSTIN REITER: The third-year pro was claimed off waivers by Kansas City last month and was inactive for the Chiefs' 27-23 win at Denver on Monday Night Football.
- DE MIKE LOVE: The first-year pro is on the Buffalo Bills' practice squad.
- RB QUINTON FLOWERS: USF's former record-breaking quarterback is on the Cincinnati Bengals' practice squad.
- LB NIGEL HARRIS: The second-year pro was recently signed to the Arizona Cardinals' practice squad.
- LB RESHARD CLIETT: The sixth-round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft is on the Minnesota Vikings' practice squad.
ABOUT USF FOOTBALL
USF posted its second straight 10-win season in 2017 (10-2) by winning its second straight Birmingham Bowl with a 38-34 victory over Texas Tech. USF is one of just 15 teams nationally to win 20-plus games in the last two seasons (21-4) and posted a program-record 20 straight weeks ranked in the top 25, reaching as high as No. 13 in Week 8 of the 2017 season.
