The Bulls Take on Oklahoma and No. 29 Tulsa This Weekend

TAMPA (February 22, 2018) -- The USF women's tennis team will head to the Midwest to face University of Oklahoma on Feb. 23 for a night match at 6 p.m., and No. 29 Tulsa on Feb. 25 at 1 p.m. for the second conference match of the season.
 
The Bulls (2-5) are coming off their first conference win, 4-3, against SMU in Dallas.
 
Senior Jessica Cortes Chaves (Monterrey, Mexico) highlighted last weekend's match securing the win, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4, on court three.
 
Scouting the Opponent: 
University of Oklahoma
The Sooners (4-4) welcome USF to Oklahoma amidst a three-game win streak. 

The Bulls are faced with one ranked opponent on this Oklahoma team with No. 26 Lily Miyazaki.
 
The Sooners swept North Texas, a previous opponent of the Bulls, in last week's match, 7-0, and Miyazaki defeated the Mean Green's No. 48 Maria Kononova in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3.
 
University Tulsa
The Golden Hurricane enters Sunday's match ranked No. 29 by the ITA. With a 10-2 record, Tulsa marks five straight wins including No. 16 Baylor, 4-2.
 
As the team's only ranked player, No. 95 Martina Okalova posts a 7-1 singles record for the Golden Hurricanes at the No. 1, 2, and 3 spots.
 
The Bulls fell to the Golden Hurricane in last year's regular season match, 2-4.
 
The match will be a two-time conference championship rematch, dating back to 2016. The Bulls finished as conference runner-up in 2016 to the Golden Hurricane, but defeated them last season to earn their second American Athletic Conference championship.
