Bulls Ready for No. 21 UCF in War on I-4 Battle

TAMPA (April 3, 2018) -- The USF women's tennis team hosts UCF for a midweek War on I-4 battle on Wednesday at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts.

The Bulls (11-7,4-1) extended their win streak to nine with wins against FGCU, 4-3, and Brown, 6-1 last weekend at USF.
 
Junior Vanja Klaric's (Gaborone, Botswana) standout performances pushed her to an eight-match winning streak on courts three, four and five. Klaric posts an overall record of 12-5 for the Bulls.
 
Freshman Evelyne Tiron (Bucharest, Romania) advanced to an 11-4 overall record after winning her seventh straight in the Bulls win over Brown at court two.
 
Junior Nicole Dzenga (Harare, Zimbabwe) has won nine of her last ten matches, and has worked a 12-6 record in doubles with partner Kalric. The tandem has won seven straight.
 
Scouting the Opponent: 
No. 21 UCF
The Knights (15-2) are also coming off a nine-game winning streak with their most recent win against conference opponent, Memphis, 4-1.
 
No. 122 Rebeka Stolmar has the best record for the Knights only losing one game on the year (15-1) at the No. 3 and 4 spots.
 
The Knights defeated three ranked teams this season, No. 15 South Carolina, No. 16 Baylor, and No. 25 Michigan, to contribute to its winning record.
 
Last year, the Bulls faced the Knights in the last regular season match at UCF, and beat them 4-1.
 
WAR ON I-4 RIVALRY
The War on I-4 represents a long-standing and passionate rivalry between the fan bases of two of the nation's largest and fastest growing universities. The Orlando and Tampa Bay metropolitan areas, which form the fourth-largest media market in the nation, are connected by 100 miles of Interstate 4 (I-4).
 
The official recognition of the rivalry and the traditional name, first established by the fans, creates an annual series of scored competitions across multiple sports programs. The War On I-4 rivalry series officially began Sept. 21, 2016 with a competition between the two schools' volleyball programs.
