Bulls Finish Third at All-State Sugar Bowl Regatta
September 24, 2018 | Women's Sailing
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., SEPTEMBER 24, 2018 – The USF sailing team had a third place showing at this weekend's All-State Sugar Bowl Regatta in New Orleans, hosted by Tulane.
The Bulls were one of two programs that had all three of their divisions finish inside the top-10. Stanford was the overall winner, followed by Jacksonville University. Tulane finished in fourth, then Georgia Tech and NC State rounded out the field.
Sophomore Marina Barzaghi (Saunderstown, R.I.) and senior Darby Capellin (Bradenton, Fla.) crewed together representing USF's B division and finished fourth overall. They also took home the Rees Trophy as the low-point women's boat.
Nota-Bulls
The strong result bodes well for the Bulls, as this coming weekend is the semi-finals of the Fall Showcase event and the qualifier for the Showcase Finals, the premier event for the fall semester. It will be hosted by St. Mary's College of Maryland and take place Sept. 29-30.
