USF Looks for First Home Win Against LSU
TAMPA, Jan. 18, 2019 – The University of South Florida women's tennis team (1-1) will be seeking its first home win this weekend against LSU, at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts on Saturday, Jan. 19, at 10 a.m.
The Bulls are coming off of a 5-2 road win over FGCU, a game in which freshman
Amelie Boy (Trianon, Mauritis) clinched the victory with a 7-5, 7-5 win on court five.
All three seniors for the Bulls,
Ana Roman Dominguez (Burgos, Spain),
Vanja Klaric (Gaborone, Botswana) and
Nicole Dzenga (Harare, Zimbabwe), won their matches against the Eagles in straight sets, with Roman Dominguez remaining undefeated after straight-set wins against opponents from FAU and FGCU including ranked foe No. 88 Nayalia Boltinskaya from FAU.
The Bulls also won their first doubles point on the season against the Eagles, with the team of Klaric and Dzenga winning their match 6-4, and Roman Dominguez and Boy winning 6-3.

LSU
The Tigers have two Top 125 National Singles players, according to the ITA Division I Women's Rankings. The first being sophomore Eden Richardson (Bath, England), who had a preseason ranking of 38, but now sits at 13. The other Tiger ranked is Kennan Johnson (Baton Rouge, La.), who is ranked at 72.
Regarding doubles, the Tigers have three teams in the Top 60, according to the ITA Division I Women's Rankings. The highest ranked team is senior Jessica Golovin (New York, N.Y.) and Richardson. Sophomore Taylor Bridges (Mesa, Ariz.) and junior Paris Corley (Grants, N.M.) check in at No. 30. The final ranking for the Tigers is the team of freshman Anna Loughlan (Cambridge, England) and Johnson, currently ranked at 54.
This matchup for the Tigers will be their first of the season, after the pair of Richardson and Golovin won the NCAA Doubles Championship in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3. The Tigers made it to the first round of the the NCAA Division I Women's Tennis Championships, but fell in a 4-2 match against Tulsa.
